That's what I think of when I look at this chart: http://www.handprint.com/LS/ANC/evol.html To me it says that some line of Homo Egaster spawed 3 different races: 1.) Homo Erectus (who discovered fire), 2.) Homo Heidelbergensis 3.) Homo Neanderthalensis (who first created shelters and art). One of those races, likely Homo Heidelbergensis, spawned us: Homo Sapiens. So what happened to the other races? Simple.
