We've been having a blast with "Arcade" but I really wish they'd get off
their asses and add some real content. About half the games are essentially
"Robotron" (move with the left stick, fire with the right).
But even my wife is now in the mix since she's discovered "Astro Pop". My
son and I are playing "Geometry Wars", "Mutant Storm" (perhaps the best of
the two stick shooters) and "Bejeweled 2".
As far as the actual on-a-disc games go there's not much for us yet. Now
that they've dropped the price we'll (finally) be picking up "Burnout:
Revenge" and I'll being getting into "Oblivion" sometime soon.
We just finished "Kameo". Good - sometimes REALLY good, but often mediocre.
Overall the game seemed a little rushed... it ended abruptly left a lot of
loose ends (Why didn't we confront the Mystic? What exactly happened to
Solon? Who was the mysterious general rallying the troops?)
I think the most disappointing aspect of the game was the really dumb AI.
The game features scenes with hundreds of combatants (elves and trolls) but
all they do is find the closest enemy and stand there poking each other. It
just seems so puppet-like.
We'll probably do a bit more (we're missing one skin and some "elixirs") but
maybe not.
I think overall my biggest problem with the system is the new price point.
Most all of the game we're interested in ("King Kong", "Tomb Raider", etc)
are available for other platforms for less than $40 and very short.
Paying 50% more to play essentially the same six hour game just doesn't
appeal to me. But I'll definitely be raiding the (eventual) bargain bins.
