gas in our area just recently had an increase also. We built all electric first as it was a couple thousand dollars to have the gas company run a line. Later we got a propane tank that we'll put the hot tub on when I finally get around to installing it. After that, whenever my hot water heater croaks, I'm going to replace it with the tankless gas varieties.
Truthfully, the electric heat doesn't cost near as much as the electric AC.....I am in Texas afterall.
