Is CBGB still getting evicted? I haven't been following that story lately.

Things I love in NYC:

- Times Square
  - rotating rooftop restaurant at the Marriott Marquis - overpriced, but a
very cool view of the city
  - the dining/lounge area in the Marquis that faces out over Times Square,
I can't remember what it is called. Get a table by the window if you can,
the people-watching is great

- The Village
  - the sights, the sounds, the smells!

- Ground Zero
  - a must for everyone who goes to NYC

- The Met
  - I especially love the Asian art collection

- Broadway
  - shows, shows, and more shows. I love the intimacy of the theater.

- Central Park
  - especially in the springtime, lots of cool stuff going on

Something I have never seen but I've been told is really awesome is to visit
the park gardens at the very northern end of Manhattan. I think they were
built by the Roosevelts. Any New Yorkers care to expand on that?

Also, I am an admitted infrastructure geek. I love to study things like
roads, sewer systems, power plants- the guts of a city. NY is great for
that. I think one of the coolest things you can do is enter Manhattan by
car, exiting onto the Henry Hudson Parkway on the upper west side. Drive
south on Hudson Pkwy. You can drive all the way to the south end of the
island, (and with a little attention to signage so you don't end up in New
Jersey) pick up the FDR, and drive up the east side of the island all the
way back to where you exited off of the Cross-Bronx Expressway. You can
actually go even further north if you choose, up above 180th St. It takes
awhile, and I wouldn't do it at night, but to me that is one of the best
ways to get a sense of how huge and dense Manhattan is.
