Not being privy to the very inane marketing decisions of movie
studios, I have no idea.  I saw a story that said the main poster for
the documentary did not credit Gore, but all the ads I've seen online
for it and the website for the movie tout his involvement extensively.

Perhaps they felt it would get a better audience without the politics
that Gore's involvement is bound to attract.
