I got the same thing a couple of weeks ago from a relative, something was
wrong with his laptop and it wouldn't reboot properly. Expected that I would
instantly know what the problem was and could trouble shoot it over the
phone.

The other thing I LOVE is that when relatives are over and their kids want
to use my computer. The last guy that asked is a mechanic, my response was
sure as long as you don't mind my 11 year old stopping by on Monday to play
hop scotch with your wrenches and sockets.

Of course...

A personal favorite of mine though is the assumption that because one
works with a computer one can diagnose any issue relating to a
computer (especially software installs) without a  description of the
problem more accurate than "I hit a key and it beeps" or "I was
installing some software and there's no OK button."

.....sigh...

both problems I troubleshat for my parents this week...
