That is because our system of federal government is a republic.

 

Clinton won the electoral college two times in a row. He didn't win the
popular vote either time. I think that if we had a true popular vote,
Clinton and Bush Sr. would have gone to a runoff, and Bush would have won.
Which is what I would have agreed with.

 

But I still support the Electoral College. Even though in the past it has
caused my guy to loose.

It is on every level except for the Presidential election.  However,
what I was responding to was the original comment that the people
elected Bush.  They did not.  Either time.

And I seriously doubt you would be such a fan of the Electoral College
if your guy had lost.

Spin it all you want.  Throw in a few more red herrings.  If you are
stating, in any way, that George Bush won an election by legal and
ethical means, you are wrong.
