No, the American People, a single collective unit, did elect Bush. If not, who was elected in 2004?
It does not mean that ALL people VOTED for him. It does not mean a majority VOTED for him. It does not mean even a plurality voted for him (since this is not a factor in how an American President is elected). But he WAS elected. He was elected by the electoral college, in accordance with our constitution. And people are right, we, the American People, hold the collective karma on what happens on his watch. Individuals don't, but the collective entity does (since it elected him).
