So did the founders of this country :) I'm definitely not going to make a "the founders intended ..." argument as if I know. Instead I'll say that we've got a system that was built on the concept of protecting people from their own weaknesses - thus the constitution, the 3 branches, etc. They also built in the ability to change the rules as need demanded. At this point we have a need to clean up our election process and so we should use our powers to do that. The problem is, not enough people see the need so we just continue to laze with the old corrupt system.
