This is true, but I think there is a big difference between making a nice profit, and making billions of profit in just a quarter. And you're wrong that no one came to their aid. The US subsidizes a lot of what the oil company does for research as well as allowing them drill in places such as the gulk of mexico and in alaska in wildlife reserves. So while you and I weren't rushing to bail them out like we do with the red cross for natural disasters, they were doing just fine.
