Most of my point is that there is little difference between what google is
doing and what the government is doing.

In part because google can hand over the contents of the DB, which includes
information including your IP address.

Wiretapping and traffic capturing aside, a company that keeps everything,
including trend analysis and that will hand it over to the government should
they ask, warrant or not, is just as dangerous as the government taking the
data them selves.

I don't like the way Google does it, so I don't use gmail for anything real.
I use it for a test account, but I also have a yahoo and hotmail account for
stuff like that. But they are test accounts, I don't use them for real
communication.

I don't mind my name being public in forums like this or anything else
because I stand behind what I say. I don't do things illegal, and I don't
think the government is out to get me, just my money.

I'm scared of companies that would want to do this, and companies like
google that look like they are better than the rest scare me more, because
they can get away with it longer. Users are less likely to question Google
because they trust them.
