Ugh. Fundamental mistakes. I especially hate made-up words, except as intentional verbal hooks. See the dialogue of old Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes for good examples.
I may have related this story already, but I had a college professor who used to tag papers by freshmen with comments like, "You write english like it is a second language,", and leave references to the Strunk & White style guide. Too funny. I must say that I have never seen such abuse of language as on the West Coast. I can only conclude that the public school system in California has totally failed to educate an entire generation of people on the basics of the english language. One other thing that really bugs me is verbosity. That was part of why I left law school- I've never read such boring, long-winded sh!t in my life as in the intro. course on Property, although Contracts was a close second.
