When I installed the last.fm software - it found both iTunes and WMP
on my system. You choose which you'd like last.fm to use and then the
installed downloads and installs plugins for the ones you choose. So,
I think it should work just fine for you.

Under "installation instructions" (left column -
https://www.last.fm/join/?page=2&createprofile=Proceed+to+Step+2), the
following players are listed specifically: iTunes, Winamp, and Windows
Media Player.
