So, last months bill was $497.00. It's a bit high for my comfort level :) I had already started my saving efforts (replacing incandescents with fluorescents, thermostat on 78 to 80, lights off when out of the room, teaching my daughters to close the damn door!) I decided there had to be more that could be done. My electric meter is digital so it makes it really easy to track, but of course that only tells you the usage for the entire house. Next thing was to hit google to figure out how to calculate kw/h usage of appliances. Simple formula:
(Volts * Amps)/1000 = kw/h per 1 hour. First target, my pool pump....it seems a little shifty to me and worthy of my suspicion. (220v * 8A)/1000 = 1.76 kw/h * (8 hrs a day) * (30days) * ($0.135 p/kw/h) = $57.02 that sneaky little bastard has been adding to my electric bill a month. I'm almost afraid to see how much my pc with it's multiple is drawing :( -- Hieroglyphics? let me be specific I wanna be down in your south seas But I got this notion that the motion of your ocean means small craft advisory ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Introducing the Fusion Authority Quarterly Update. 80 pages of hard-hitting, up-to-date ColdFusion information by your peers, delivered to your door four times a year. http://www.fusionauthority.com/quarterly Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:213396 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5
