Valve has made available 5 gameplay movies (through Steam) for this -
anybody else watch?

They're frickin' AMAZING! My favorites are the first and last ones.

In the first you find yourself deep underground in an Ant Lion den with only
a Vortegaunt [sic] ally (who can really kick some ass). I usually dread
these "tight'n'close" dark levels when playing but when I think back on the
games those are always the most vivid memories.

The last shows you barreling through the countryside in a souped up buggy.
You eventually find yourself surround by striders and mini-striders (I think
they're called "hunters" but I'm not sure) and the odd ally.

There's an amazing scene (no unlike the destroyed bridge scene from the
second trailer) where a strider unloads on a farmhouse and it explodes
complete with stunningly realistic physics.

They also show so superb gravity gun fighting against several mini-striders.

I know they delayed... but damn, they know how to keep my attention through
a delay.

I still find all the "Half-Life" games to be the most fun I have behind a
cross-hair. They're the only FPS games where I haven't just (essentially)
given up (either through boredom or difficulty) and switched to God-mode
just so I could see the end of the game (Doom 3 comes painfully to mind).
