I guess it breaks down like this for me: you can't prove God one way or the other, so it comes down to faith and reason. Reason can take you only so far, then you have to incorporate faith. Reason can be used to suggest either scenario, thusly: "I can't see or touch God. I can explain most, if not all, of the naturally occurring phenomena using well defined laws of nature. I accept the fact that life could have come from non-life, and no First Mover was required. It is not only possible, but likely, that life and everything in it is just a lucky mixture, bound to happen at some point." or "I reject that life can come from non-life. A First Mover is thusly required for life, which I call 'God'. I reject the idea that random luck could create the incredible complexity that is life. My reason tells me that such complexity is most likely the result of intelligent design." I find reason and value in both arguments. I personally like the idea of a God...and since I can find enough reason to allow me to take that faith leap...I do it. I know, I'm not very committed, but then i'm not a zealot :) I know Signs was a terrible movie, but I really liked the part when "lost his faith" Mel describes the two types of people to "i can't act" Joaquin. Do you look at those lights in the sky and see a miracle, or do you see chance? Group 1 is comforted, group 2 isn't. Even if it ultimately proves to be false...is there value in that comfort? -- "Ma Teresa joined the mob, and is happy with her full time job." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Introducing the Fusion Authority Quarterly Update. 80 pages of hard-hitting, up-to-date ColdFusion information by your peers, delivered to your door four times a year. http://www.fusionauthority.com/quarterly Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:215579 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5
