That reality is actually very high.

I'm in a weekly LIVE poker league and see those kinds of beats every
week. I myself have had quads several times (A's, 6's, K's and 10's) and
a friend of mine's flush was beat by a straight flush, which the guy got
on the river. HIGHLY annoying, but that's the way the cards fall. I even
had trips beat 7 times in a ROW in the space of 2 tournaments. Not such
an easy feat.

Sometimes you have an extraordinary night, and sometimes you're out in
the second hand. :)
