Heh - well, it gets a little more complicated - I'm working as a subcontractor for the design firm that is running the project. So, I have no direct contact to the client themselves, I get all my requirements through the project manager for the design firm.
I would agree that if they just purchased a license that I install, then it is theirs to do what they will with it once the project is completed. I may just contact my project manager and tell him that they will have to reimburse me for the cost of the software, and if they want to buy it and keep the rights to the license, then so be it.
