Well, as I predicted, didn't get very far in the weekly tournament at Best
Light. Still, did better than over 200 people, so I guess I shouldn't be too
ashamed. I got some good cards at the end (pockets Aces & 10s) and still
couldn't manage to win a hand. I just get so frustrated at this online play...I
was playing more and more aggressive as the week went by, because I figured out
that when people are just playing for chips, they don't fold for ANYTHING. If
they have even the slightest outside chance to hit something, they stay in. And
I'm *very* choosy about the hands I play, versus the large percentage that seem
to play everything. Seems like a good percentage of the time, there's little
point in raising before the flop, since 90% of them play regardless. The
players today in the championship weren't quite so crazy, but still don't play
in a way that I can make sense of. I played those pocket aces very aggressively
to get people to fold and *still* got beat on the river by a flush. I know, I
know, it happens....it just seems to be the norm online rather than the
exception. I've never been beat on the river so much in my entire life as I
have in this week. I found the format of the tournaments very difficult as
well, the way you just keep getting new players added to the table. And they
sure bump up the blinds very quickly! It didn't really suit my style of play
(patient and conservative) very well. Those of you that are able to play and
win, I give you a lot of credit. As for me, I think I will retire and stick
with family and friends who I can beat the pants off of any day. ;-)
