Sounds sorta like that's where Flex may be going as well?  Why would you want 
javascript when you've got actionscript, and all the nifty stuff Flash has that 
was designed (I thought) to do the stuff people are trying to do now with AJAX 
(and then some)?

Well why would be up to the user, but I would use Flex for the front end since 
it would be easier for me to create the highly dynamic and contained UI in flex 
rather then the DHTML world of AJAX.  But the AJAX javascript would be used to 
move the data back and forth between the client an server.

That one way I could see them going together.
