So sorry to hear about Rocky. My dog Taz is 11 now and I'm so scared about 
losing him. I've had a lot of dogs and it's always difficult to lose them, but 
he is that kind of special dog that it just rips your heart out to think of 
your life without. I just hope that if it did come time to make the decision I 
would be able to spare him pain and not keep him alive for myself. At least 
with our pets we do have that option, difficult as it may be. 

As for the expense of cancer treatment, it does indeed vary a lot and depend on 
how long they think he will need, and yes, you may want to evaluate what 
results you may get, and how well your pet can tolerate the stress. But they do 
surprise us sometimes as well! A friend of mine just went through this decision 
with her aussie, and the dog came through chemo so much better than she 
expected and continues to beat the odds.
