Speaking of which, we bought a Volare station wagon in the mid-to-late 70s.

On the way home, we stopped at the grocery store.

I opened the passenger side door, and it fell off into the parking
lot. Right off.

Subsequent investigation while waiting for a tow truck revealed there
was not a single fastener on the entire passenger side. No bolts
mounting the engine to the frame. No bolts holding the door on. No
screws holding the molding on the ceiling. Nothing.

And, of course, we were without recourse in those days (pre
lemon-law). The dealership did go through and add bolts and screws,
but they should have replaced the entire car.

That's when we, although from a Michigan family, started buying foreign cars.
