I haven't seen it but judging by the title I'd guess it's nothing like that.

It's not like when many different cultures were suddenly thrown
together for the first time and there was fear of the unknown while
fighting for jobs. There's a lot of love and respect for diversity in
NY, which is being passed on to the newcomers.
