I am generally against attacking anyone, but the Taliban left us little choice. They may not *be* al-Qaeda but they actively allied themselves with them and refused to cooperate in the extradition of a war criminal.
Hussein on the other hand was anethema to al-Qaeda, far too entwined with Western interests. Attacking him was forwarding some agenda other than the safety of America. We are still there even though the head of the government, elected in a vote we said was democratic, says we are not welcome. So spare me the high-faluting rhetoric.
