Maybe you haven't noticed but Bin Laden doesn't give 2 sh1ts about money or living in palaces. If he controlled Saudi Arabia (and Iran and Iraq, etc, etc) he could easily stop Middle East oil supplies and us the resulting price spike to manipulate world policy: "do what I want or no oil" Translation: as long as the US economy is dependent on oil and there's an oil supplier willing to withhold that oil there's a threat to US security.
