i posted this on another board..

What I hope will happen:
Both sides will realize that the American people are sick of partisan
politcs, the moderates will overwhelm the extreme left and right with a
spirit of cooperation, and work to do what is right for the country at
large. not just their particular special interest groups
This spirit will create a clear and decisive plan to end the fighting in
Iraq and create a stabilzing power in the Middle East. This way we can
concentrate on the real problem, North Korea. Congress will demand the
resignation of Donald Rumsfeld and replace him with either a former member
of the Joint Chiefs or someone from within the Department of Defense.
We will have an end to run away spending, and a balanced budget.
What I think will happen:
The current Congress will jump into high gear and pass as many agenda
items as they can before the new term, Bush will sign all of them without
question. There will be a ton of infighting between the moderates and the
extreme left. Because most of the candidates won on a platform of "we're
not going to do things the way that the Republicans did it" they now
actually have to flesh that out.
The first six months of the new term will be spent with the extreme left
trying to impeach Bush and spending tons of money on a Ken Starr style
investigation, and trying to dismantle the entire eight years of the Bush
administration. Meanwhile Iraq will continue to be a quagmire as the
Congress has forgotten about it in the first six months.
The rest of the term will be spent with Congress passing bills, and the
President pretty much automatically vetoing everything.
In short.... business as usual.
