I like the way you think, I agree. Let's take 'em one by one:

(1.) Trans-Fats. It ain't trans fat that's bad it's saturated fat
which is where trans fats came from in the first place! It was the
same group that used to push trans fats because of saturated fats
that's now pushing a trans fat ban.

It's eating and health habits that are the problem whether there're
trans fats or not. I doubt a guy who eats pork rinds and bacon every
day is going to magically health because his margarine is taken away
.... in restaurants.

(2.) Smoking. A legal product should be legal everywhere. A gov't
building can be smoke free, a business can *choose* to be smoke free,
but the government shouldn't be able to force a business to ban a
legal product.

(3.) Product safety laws. Buyer beware. The gov't should be able to
mandate that a manufacturer build their products within a "reasonable"
safe usage limit, but that's it.

(4.) Health Care subsidies. Consumer driven health care with gov't
provided HSAs/HRAs to those who qualify.

(5.) Automobile safety. Nothing that's not a danger to others should
be illegal. I shouldn't have to wear my seat belt if I don't want
too. Left lanes should have no speed limit or a ridiculously high
one. Even moderately high, say 85, would be a big improvement. And
no trucks in the left lane during rush hour.
