Meet Phoenix Skylar. He was born yesterday at 1:46pm. He weighed in at 5lbs
11ozs and was 17.5 inches in length. He was born with a small birth defect
(we've known since week 18) called Gastroschisis (which you can see in some
of the pictures), other than that... he is doing great. He will more than
likely be in the NICU at DUKE for over a month.

Talon is super, super excited. A little bummed that he won't even be able to
see Phoenix until he gets out of the hospital due to flu restrictions..
Jenene is doing great. Her contractions started at 4 minutes apart, so it
was definitely a race to the hospital :)

....
Gastroschisis is an opening in the abdomen that has allowed the intestines
outside the body. The intestines are packed in a bag --called a silo-- that
allows gravity to slowly pull the intestines back into the body. This is
done slowly so that the baby doesn't herniate something.
