Actually Larry you are wrong again.

The manual as you put it is for specially trained people in that area, and
it is up to those people from the results of the test, to diagnose and
identify what is wrong with someone.

Now as I said before, I am no expert but I am very closely related to
someone who had this test, and has ADHD (mild case) but has been diagnosed
with aspergers. Now the report is very detailed based on this manual and yes
I have read the report, and it outlines the problems with the person in
great detail.

My point is that, people who go and get tested for ADHD, might not be ADHD
and yet show some of the characteristics of ADD/ADHD but in actual fact be
in the higher functioning autistic. And that is what it is all about.

Remember what the DSM stands for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual - its a
document that's a committee compromise (actually about 20 committees) with
representation mostly from psychiatrists under the American Psychiatric
Association.

The DSM-IVR does not suggest treatment. Only if the client fits certain
diagnostic categories, they are classified into certain categories. And
quite a few fit into my "Huh?" classification - in other words you've got to
be kidding, such as undifferentiated oppositional disorder.

Moreover it really doesn't identify everything that's needed to cure a
problem. That's simply impossible. What it does do is provide a minimally
necessary diagnosis that will satisfy insurance, Medicare or government
providers. For instance where are the prescribed treatments for drug
addiction in the DSM-IVR?
