MS is just pissing me off at every turn. I called back, explained that I was out of warranty and had had tried to have the console fixed. Not only do they (of course) consider me out-of-warranty for opening it but they refuse to even look at "tampered" consoles for repair (it's not just a matter of having no warranty, you can NEVER get them fixed by MS). I can actually get a warranty replacement box (since according to the serial number the console is still in warranty) but cannot get it fixed (since it's a "tampered" console).
