I had a very slightly similar experience with CI Host a few years ago. They
shut down my server because I did not install a service pack for SQL
Server.(this was my own serve that was co-located with them). The patch had
only been out for a few weeks. I got a call from my biggest client who averaged
about 40,000 user registrations from October - April. They said that the site
was unavailable. I called CI Host and they told me that the server was
disconnected from the network until I patched the server. No phone call, email
or anything warning me about this. Just shut it down one Saturday. The
downfall on that was that the following year they decided to have someone else
host and maintain the site I created for them. That netted a loss of about
$1,200.00 a year in lost maintenance/upgrade revenue. Needless to say I left
them once my contract was up. I totally feel your pain.
