Here a stupid question....
when you measured the area you were covering, did you measure around
obstacles (counters, appliances)
or just measure wall to wall to get the square footage?

Yeah you definitely should estimate 10%-15% more than needed. Based on
the cuts you will need to make, there will be times there will be pieces
you can not use.
We had estimated 10% more for materials when we had our laminate
flooring put in our basement and had maybe 10 pieces left over from the
last box which was pretty good.

Buy about 1.5 times the board feet you're estimating you'll need to
account for f*ckups. They happen a lot, according to two friends that
have attempted this themselves. :)
