There are wireless webcams that will do this. I just got a wired one
that has the abilityt o detect motion and start recording video to the
HD of my computer when it detects motion. You can also set a "window"
for it to specifically watch for movement (a door for example). You
can set the length of time it records after the motion stops and also
the motion sensitivity (in case you have a cat or something). Lastly,
it has the ability to FTP or email the first frame of the vid to
anywhere you specify. You may be able to send an image to a special
email address and have the image sent to your phone.

I don't have mine turned on right now, but when I know someone from
the apt complex is going to be in my apt for maintenance I aim it at
the door to my office and turn that motion sensor on just to make sure
they aren't exploring all my gadgets for things to take.

I'd just search around the new for one. If all you are looking for is
video monitoring, having it be a webcam gives you alot more
flexibility than buying a closed "security system". If you are
looking for more, like door/window sensors, you'd want a more
traditional security system. Though I think there are several out
do-it-yourself systems there now (X10?) that will let you connect it
to your computer also.

Of course, this all assumes they aren't there to steal your computer. ;)
