But you had problems with the xbox. That is a hardware problem (which is what I thought the topic was). We were not talking (I don't think) about the service after a hardware problem, just the reliability of the hardware itself.
My first xbox had a cd-rom read error. So I sent it in to get fixed. 5 weeks later, I got it back in the mail. It was the same xbox returned, and unfixed. I called them about it, and they told me to send it back, but made me pay for the shipping this time (because it was the second complaint in x days, I had to pay shipping). They sent back a different xbox this time, and it has worked since. I never did get them to pay me back for the shipping, although they admitted they were wrong on the phone. My first 360 went up in a smelly puff of overheated electronics. I sent it in, and got a new one, and it has been working since. We went through about 6 ms optical mice back when they were 120 bucks apiece. They just stopped working. No help at all from ms on any of those. (Fortunately, it wasn't my money). We went with logitech after that. I have bought much hardware, but have had very few hardware failures over the years. I have only had one hard drive fail ever, and that was a self-inflicted overheating problem (western digital) I am not saying that ms is a bad hardware company. (as evidenced by my ms mouse, pair of xboxes, xbox 360), just that I have overall been more impressed with Apple hardware than with MS hardware for out-of-the-box reliability (except for the power issue on a bunch of fat Macs back in the mid 80s).
