If I offended, I sincerely apologize. That was not my intent (I do tend to be politically incorrect and blunt). I suppose I was stereotyping and that is wrong. I know programmers who have a lot of tats and or some piercings who are good friends and are top notch programmers, but I was pretty much referring to those who have more piercings on their face than Clair's has earrings in their boutiques, or they look like they live in the tattoo parlor. Based on my personal experience, if someone is looking to break into the corporate world and they are sporting some of the piercings or tats that some of these folks are, they are going to have a tough time of it. It is a first impression thing and we all know it. I have interviewed folks in the past who looked like this, and although I was convinced that they could do the job, management thought otherwise. I know it is because of how they looked. Folks who look like this are assumed to be mis-fits, gang members, tweakers, etc... even though they may be some of the nicest folks in the world. I know that my daughter has friends who dress in ways I only thought were appropriate for Halloween, but this is their way of expressing themselves. Like my programmer friends, these are some pretty nice girls and once you get to know them you get past the stereotype. So again I apologize if I offended you. I did not mean to.
