I posted the link to the pictures on a local group and there is an
overwhelming consensus that this is a coyote. Some of people who answered
see them frequently, If you are looking for non-lethal suggestions -- not
sure from your post -- fireworks and paintballs were mentioned, as well as
simply bringing your dog inside. The one person said she talked to a state
biologist who said that any coyote is a threat to any dog, simply because it
is used to killing other animals for food, which a domesticated animal is
not.
