Well, I don't know Fitzgerald's reasons but based on what I've read
about him and about the case I think it's more that:

1.) Fitzgerald has a deep respect for the law and is going to
prosecute anyone he sees as subverting the process.  It would appear
that that is exactly what Libby did.

2.) The Whitehouse celebrated Fitzgerald and then skewered him when he
didn't say what  they wanted.  I'm that guessing that Fitzgerald's
pissed either because they asked him to bend the system or simply
because they attacked him for doing the job they asked him to do.

Either way it's a legitimate prosecution and it certainly doesn't look
like Libby is innocent.  Pres Clinton was impeached for the same exact
thing.
