Yeah. If we follow Occom's Razor, here's what happened:

* Cheney asked for more evidence to invade Iraq

There was a report from many governments that Saddam was trying to
purchase uranium from Africa. Cheney told the CIA they should look
into it.

* Wilson was sent to Niger
* Wilson said there wasn't wasn't a connection to Iraq

Wilson confirmed that Iraq officials met with Niger officials about
purchasing yellowcake. The deal never went through.

* Cheney's team (and Whitehouse) didn't like that answer and dug into Wilson

Cheney read in the paper he sent Wilson to Niger, and was told by
Wilson Iraq never attempted to purchase uranium form Africa. Cheney
wanted to know who this was and why he was lying.

* Cheney's staff starting their "wilson sucks" group think

They quickly found out he got the job through his wife, not the vice president.

* Libby starting spreading the staff spin outside the Whitehouse

Libby told people Wilson was lying.

* Libby got worried he crossed the line with Plame's identity (as did Ari)

Libby later asked how to know if an agent was undercover. This shows
that he didn't know at the time she was considered covert, she wasn't
anyway. It also shows that he didn't intentionally do anything wrong,
if he didn't know she was undercover no crime was committed, so there
was nothing to cover up.

* Libby lied to investigators to cover his ass (although he needn't have)

Cheney mentioned it to him in early June (he discovered from his
notes) and he forgot until someone told him again in early July. The
question is did he tell Judy Miller before he claims Russert told him?
Does it matter? No.

* Libby indicted and cut loose by the Whitehouse
* Libby blames Whitehouse

Libby said he felt like he was being scapegoated because they helped
Rove more than they helped him.
