Cool. Education software firm OKs open-source patent use
Blackboard pledged Thursday not to use its current and pending patents against open-source alternatives. The pledge also extends to in-house "home grown" course management software developed by schools themselves, software that handles chores such as tracking grades or distributing quizzes. "From day 1, Blackboard has stated that it's not focusing its intellectual-property enforcement efforts on schools and the open-source community. Today we're putting it in writing," said Matthew Small<http://investor.blackboard.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=177018&dc=177018&p=irol-govBio&ID=117644>, chief legal officer of the Washington, D.C.-based company. http://news.com.com/Education+software+firm+OKs+open-source+patent+use/2100-7344-6155469.html?part=dht&tag=nl.e433 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Upgrade to Adobe ColdFusion MX7 Experience Flex 2 & MX7 integration & create powerful cross-platform RIAs http:http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;56760587;14748456;a?http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/flex2/?sdid=LVNU Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:226515 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5
