Inside the US there are hundreds of bombs that are set to go off or actually
go off every year (FBI Statistics).

The vast majority of those bombs, which also do the most damge to person and
property, are pipe bombs. Vary basic, easy to make and use. The primary
motive behind these bombs is revenge.

In the case of a terror bombing, one inside the US would be carried out for
one of three reasons; internal politics (racists, militia/conspiracy types,
radical anti-abortion types), international terrorism (almost 100% by
islamists); or international politics (usually not aimed at or directed at
us, rather at a third party through us, such as embassies).

In the first case the bombings are at targets which in some way tie directly
to the cause of the organization (Federal Building in OK City, abortion
clinics and so forth). These bombs are purpose built from common items.
Again the pipe bomb is used in the vast majority of these attacks.

International terrorists, as we have seen repeately, are looking for press,
large body counts, and massive operations. They are not interested in
waging a palestinian style war of terror here, they could have 400 people
walk into malls across the country tomorrow, but thats not the goal, and
wouldn't further the ideal of a world wide islaic umma. They want to change
governemnts.

In the final the proof, car or truck bombs are used in most instances.
While the largest attack pre-9/11 on US soil was internal, hi-tech and using
a truck bomb, it was trully the exception that proves the rule. That kind
of attack would no longer be possible, neither would the original twin
towers attacks, as the items used to generate those explosives are now
controlled and tracked. Additionally the "American Patriot Movement" (all
the wackos that couldn't let waco and ruby ridge go, some fundi christians,
the white racialist movemement in the US at all it's levels) and it's
opposing side in the radical environmentalist circles and socialist,
comunist and anarchist achivists and militants are so deeply penetrated,
primarily through insider strife, that these groups are almost incapable of
direct action at this point.

I know that if this were Afghanistan or Iraq what you are saying would be
true. I have heard of or seen bombs in things as varied as babies dolls,
donkeys, bycycles, cans of soda and other very strange devices. However the
enemy doesn't act that way here. The idea of staying ahead of our enemies
tactics is important, but we cannot allow life inside the United States to
change in response to terror, internal or external, in my view.

Sorry for the book people :)

And a great way to hide something is to make it look like something else
that is taken to be in noxious.
