I'm tired of Chicken Little and I don't mean those who believe in global
warming. Chicken Little is big business stating that our economy will
collapse if we try to incorporate more environmentally sound business
practices. What a crock of excrement. Our economy is in greater peril
due to our out of control spending than any other single factor. In the
past 4 years we have allocated over $500 Billlion dollars in Iraq and
Afghanistan. I am not against what we did in Afghanistan. However,
many of those advocating that our economy will collapse if we try to
reduce green house gases are the same folks who trumped up evidence to
get us involved in Iraq. New White House slogan "Iraq: the next
President's problem".

NAFTA was going to ruin our economy. Our economy is constantly held
hostage to action. The reality is that in our economic system
productivity, produces results. Although it may be expensive at first
the more we develop alternative methods the cheaper the technology will
become. As old methods and the industries that produced that technology
die out new methods and technologies will emerge.

Did seamstresses went by the wayside when the sewing machine was
invented? Someone still needed to man the sewing machines, fix them,
sell them etc... Were jobs lost sure, be it didn't collapse our economy
and their were many who said it would. 50 years ago computers were
tauted as going to change the world. We would be able to do do hundreds
times the work in the same time. People would not have enough to do. We
would have all kinds of free time because we would be so damn
efficient. Yeah, right. I'm sure all of you have more free time on
your hands than you know what to do with. There are always people
tauting the end of the world as we know it. This is just more alarmist
hype from big business who doesn't want to have to spend money to
upgrade their antiquated systems. Maybe they should take a lesson from
the American Steel industry.

My thoughts:

1. It does appear as though Global Warming exists.

2. I don't know if humans are causing Global Warming. It's looking
more compelling all the time but I can't say for sure.

3. Minus those advocating that our economy will collapse (which is bs)
can anyone give me a reason not to pursue more environmentally sound
business practices?

4. We, the USA are forever claiming global leadership roles. Why not
take this one head on. The Kyoto Accord was a decade ago. Why have we
not signed on?

5. What happens if we develop more environmentally sound business
practices and Global warming turns out to be BS? Nothing, the world is a
little cleaner.

6. What happens if we don't develop more environmentally sound business
practices and Global Warming turns out to be a reality?

If there is no Global Warming and we take no action = We might avert
devastation
If there is no Global Warming and we take action = We should avert
devastation

If there is Global Warming and we take action = We might avert devastation
If there is Global Warming and we take no action = Potential devastation

Sounds to me like there is no down side in taking action and potential
devastation if we do nothing. No brainer.
