There are two ways a business can grow a profit: 1) Tap into a booming/growing market or 2) Identify a potential market and tap it with supply
Oil companies are firmly in area 1 right now...the booming energy market. Alternative energy becoming an every day reality requires 2. However, don't expect businesses to create the supply for an alternative energy market until their analysis tells them the market will be there. A business driven market still requires a "market"...which is just a fancy term for you and me.
