well yes, this is my point, and I *think* Jerry's too. There is this thing
called discretionary income, which is how much you have left when you have
paid your taxes, your rent, your bills and your food. The amount of this is
what determines your standard of living. That guy making $10 an hour doesn't
have any. Well... In New Mexico maybe he would have a *little.*

Even if that guy making over $200,000 has a pretty snazzy car and an
expensive house, he still has quite a bit left over for whatever don't you
think? Let's say maybe half of that $12,500 a month if I take your numbers
on faith.  I think he could manage a couple hundred to keep a few people
from dying. Whereas the guy making $10 an hour probably doesn't mind
contributing because he knows it could be him next, but if he kicks in too
much he can't pay the rent.
