I want a leader, someone who will state what he or she believes in and stands for. I don't want someone who caters to the polls. I want someone who will stand up and say this is what I stand for and the direction I believe we need to take. If new data dictates that a new direction may be prudent then they are not afraid to come out and make the required change of course. However, I don't want this based on polls but rather factual data.
I don't want elections brought down to individual topics, (abortion, gay rights, immigration, gun control, military spending, social Security ....). I want the package, the person and their beliefs so that I have a reasonable hope of them taking a predicable course of action. Bush offers many of these qualities, I just don't agree with his stance on many things therefore I would not and do not support him. I was afraid of his foreign policies before he was elected in 2000. I belief my fear was founded and proved to be warranted. However, I do admire his willingness to say this is what I believe and I will make decisions based on these core values. Whether you supported Bush or not I don't think he has really pulled any punches, I feel as though he has been true to his character and values. Like them or not. I do respect him for that, even though I think he is wrong. > I want my President to be fuzzy on the issues and here's why: I want > him/her to make data driven decisions.
