I'd spend a little more for a better grinder.  Mine's a krups...this one.

and it does an okay job, although whenever you tell it to grind for 1 cup,
it still grinds 5 tablespoons of coffee.  I'd hate to see what it grinds for
8 cups.

I do like the french press though.  I got mine from starbucks.  It's a glass
carafe that loses heat relatively quickly.
