Yeah, but that would be boring. Plus, you have to think about it. These guys
cannot see out the right side of the car. They have to rely on their
spotters to guide them up the track. If I see a driver hit someone on the
right, I figure that either their spotter did not do their job, or the
driver to the right of the car checked up on the guy next to him and got
hit. Also, think about the near misses you have have had on the freeway only
going 60 - 80 MPH. These guys are doing better than 150 on turns at most
tracks, and close to if not up to 200 on the straights. At that speed,
racing only inches behind the guy in front of you, there is really no room
for error. If for some reason the driver in front gets off the gas even a
little, that is going to result in getting bumped and getting you loose, and
if you are approaching the turn, you are going to go into the wall. Kyle
Bush cause the accident on the last lap by sending his car from the bottom
of the track up to the top. You cannot do that on the last lap when every
driver has the pedal to the metal. You are asking for trouble and he got it.
And ended up taking out several cars in the process. Sure "Rubbin' is
Racin'", but come on, you cannot call that Kurt did racing. He was being
stupid.
And blocking is part of the strategy. A lot of team mates will help each
other out for various reasons. Greg Biffle helped out Matt Kenseth in one
race last year. He stayed on his ass blocking other drivers till the end and
basically pushed him to a finish. They do it in the truck series, the Bush
series, F1 racing, ARCA and a lot of others. They are using Strategery.
