So I seem to have lost IIS configuration data in the MMC.

Win Server 2003 IIS 6.0, MOSS 2007

Here's what I experienced, I opened the MMC to add a Web Application
(for Sharepoint) found only the "Internet Information Services (IIS)
Management" tree item, no data underneath.

The IIS sites (there's 10 right now) on the box are all still running
and functioning as normal.

Anybody have any clues as to what is going on, or how I can fix this
without doing an In-Place Upgrade
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B816579)

This is the first of two possible solutions that Google has turned up
so far that have been even close to the symptoms described, and seems
a bit drastic--it seems that I'll lose all of my current site
configurations which leaves me SOL as far as service delivery.

The other thing was IISReset command, but I don't know if that'll
simply restart IIS or whether it'll 're-do' the configuration that I
have, the KB is not clear on that point.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
