Too me its not about what they did, it that everything I did or do was like that, once I switched to a mac everything was that much better. Her comments of it freezing and basically becoming a big waste of time were exactly how I felt about everything I did on a pc.
some of your comments cracked me up: "i wonder how vista woulda faired" Ummm, it was vista....... The comment about wondering if she was using little ram or whatever. Well its not like he was using a MacBook Pro, he was using just a plain macbook, if he would have been on a macbook pro he would have been done even sooner. I don't think the problems she was having were because of memory..... This one really f*cking cracks me up: "but the thing is that pc gives you choices..." LMFAO!!!!!!!!! Hello, those were third party fillers from Sony, you could easily add them to a mac as well but you dont need to. As far as the "built in" programs windows ships with, well you saw how their video editing software fared. Ilife blows the windows junk away and truth be told most of us would be using ps for image editing anyway and quite frankly their is no reason not to use IMovie for video cause its just easy with great results. "The programs which they chose were free, and were not necessarily the best choices for the task on a PC." Well they programs they used on the mac were also free not necessarily the best choices for a mac and they come with OS X and they arent dependent on the vender to add add-ons, so whats your point? They could have used bought programs and probably had same results. "Where they compared apples to apples, i.e. using Word for document creation on the Mac and on the PC they stated that there was virtually no difference." lol, um yeah and they could have used notepad or textedit as well, word processing isnt exactly "intensive" but if you want to be able to say my pc can word process as fast as a mac then go for it, whatever floats your boat. "The PC is actually only being 'marketed' so to speak as a Multimedia Platform for the home with the advent of Vista. Prior to that I did not see any sort of concerted Multimedia Platform marketing effort beside viewing television and sharing media with Windows Media Center." So you havent seen XP Media Center thats been out for only like 3-4 years now.... "I had Vista running on my game box and I saw my FPS in World of Warcraft drop from 40-50 down to 10-20." Well yeah, M$ try to copy the 3d visual effects of OS X take a tremendous toll on a pc's performance. Which is funny because all these games are gunna run slower than ever now, so you will have to go spend more $$ on faster processors and loads of ram to get it back to were it should be. "Now, I haven't seen much of iLife, but I figure it's got to have about the same feature set as WMM, except it didn't crash." ILIfe is pretty damn good for coming with the os, m$ cant even come close with their offerings and the funny thing is m$ is the software company not apple, yet Apples blowes it away. The thing with Apple is user experience, m$ seemed to forget about that long ago. "The apple wasn't doing HD video, so the stress would be less." How do you know that? If you ever watch the show they do things pretty fairly and Im sure he was using hd as well, he just didnt say it and if he did or not it doesnt really make a difference time wise in video editing. How would the stress be less? The only difference is when you are making a movie is selecting the proper format to import it with. It was a 2 minute video not a feature length movie. "At home I surf the web and play games on my PC, sometimes I catch up on some work. I don't find myself writing news reports with photo and video for the web. That sounds like work to me." The thing is that average people are starting to figure out that they can make movies and cool things with pictures and such at home easily (well on a mac anyways). My mom is a good example, since I got her a mac she goes nuts with making videos and photo cds. She goes into IPhoto and there are things to put together books easily and u upload it and a hardcover book is sent to you. Things like that, you can use picasa on pc to do that but its way easier on a mac and its part of os. The point of the compitition wasnt about what they did ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Upgrade to Adobe ColdFusion MX7 Experience Flex 2 & MX7 integration & create powerful cross-platform RIAs http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/flex2/?sdid=RVJQ Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:230806 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5
