I always use an example like your first one Sandy. Unless I'm talking
to an IT person or manager, I "dumb it down" for them. I'll say "you
know when you order something off of Amazon.com? Well, Cold fusion is
the programming language that processes that information." I know from
an IT standpoint that's not entirely accurate, but it makes them
understand.

  How bout.

Cold Fusion? You must have heard of the breakthrough experiement in
Nuclear

I recently received a certification which, with other certifications
and
industry experience, gives the the equivilent of a BS in Geology
(Mineral
  Exploration to be more precise).

Because of that, I am interviewing for a non-IT possition Thursday. I
know
the question "What is Cold Fusion?" will come up. Can anyone give me
a
  simple explanation I can give?

Mine is full of jargon and buzz words and I just can't seem to
simplify it.

  Russel
