I moved to San Francisco from Atlanta in December of 2005. I moved to
the San Jose area from San Francisco earlier this month. We actually
live between San Jose and Los Gatos, which is my friend's hometown.

Right now, I'm taking Caltrain to the city each day. I'm 3 miles from
the train station for the VTA, which is a ten minute train ride to the
San Jose station, then a 50 minute ride on the Caltrain bullet train
into San Francisco.

Palo Alto is one of the stops on the bullet. It's not too bad as
college towns go, but I prefer either the city, or the mountains. Not
too much for the 'burbs.

The city is expensive, but the outer areas, not so much. Fortunately
my kids are grown, so I can spend all my money on myself, and I make
enough to afford it.
